Over the last three decades, business schools have increasingly integrated sustainability into their curriculum and research, but to address the pressing challenge of climate change, they must delve deeper. Initially met with skepticism, the relevance of the natural environment to business has become evident. Contemporary management scholars explore market signals, corporate sustainability strategies, sustainable products, and circular operations. However, while emphasizing market-driven solutions is essential, it is insufficient to prevent systemic collapse. To combat climate change, academia should challenge existing research culture and norms, transitioning from a focus on theoretical rigor to practical relevance. This shift is vital in reshaping capitalism and addressing the existential crisis of climate change.
