One Vanderbilt, a climate-conscious skyscraper designed by KPF, is celebrated for its eco-friendly attributes, including rainwater retention and energy generation systems. Opened in late 2020, the tower features a popular viewing platform and a transformed car-free pedestrian plaza on Vanderbilt Avenue. Notably, the Grand Central Madison recently debuted, offering direct access via One Vanderbilt to the Long Island Rail Road on Manhattan's east side. The building's sustainability aspects encompass a self-contained resilient power plant generating energy equivalent to six football fields of solar panels, alongside runoff reuse for heating and cooling. Evolving city laws are driving greener construction practices in New York.
